Murder on Olympus

This is a game set in ancient Greece when the gods of Olympus held dominion over all mankind. It is a time of heroes, monsters, gods and villains. Last night a great cry shook Olympus. It was Hades shouting "He's dead, he's dead." When you ran to the noise, you found Hades in Zeus' apartments, Zeus, stabbed to death at his feet. He swears that Zeus was dead when he walked into the room, and you found no murder weapon or blood on Hades. Hestia has summoned you to solve Zeus' murder and you must also elect a new king.

There is another pressing matter; the Persians have invaded Greece and are burning your temples. If a new dread lord is not elected soon and you do not deal with this violent threat to your rule, what power will you have left? Worse still, what will they do to your champions, the heroes of Greece and your artifacts of power if they capture them?

The game will have minimal system, with a simple majority vote deciding who is elected dread lord of Olympus. No voting can happen within the first hour and a half of the game but after that a vote can be called whenever 5 or more gods or 3 gods and Hestia agree to call the vote. Hecate, at Hestia's request has placed a spell over Olympus, so that no god may use their powers while on the mountain, during the next 4 hours.

Information for Players:This game is set in ancient Greece but there are no specific costume requirements. You will be playing one of the major Greek Gods. You will have very few powers in Olympus for most the game but will still be able to interact with your heroes and mythological creatures.

Character backgrounds and character sheets will be no more than 3 sides of A4. It would be helpful if players were to have a basic knowledge of ancient Greek myth but not necessary. Please don't bring any LARP weapons to the game.

I'm the one with beard, glasses and an armful of props, and hopefully a pint. OK, that's half of the con. Replace "prop" with "PA", and I'm more easily identifiable.

I'm an experienced writer and player; My previous games as co-author include "Come Hel or Hiawatha", "Small Town Folks", "Veterans Day" and "Carry on at Camp David", "The Dying of the Light", and "Dr. Nefarious and the Paradise Project". "The Saga of the Lost" is my last offspring from the Peaky writing weekend.
