"Often she felt as though she had been picked up and turned about like a kaleidoscope, that all her complacent assumptions had been shaken up and reassembled in a different order." (Judith Lennox)

Delta Sector Helter Skelter

The scoutship Deneb has fallen through a wormhole and emerged in the remote Delta Sector – tens of thousands of light years from home. Characters are the officers and crew of the Deneb; doomsaying, blamestorming, and struggling with a wide range of sticky interpersonal issues, as they attempt to deal with the crisis.

This is a co-created larp, using the well-established Picking up the Pieces framework (described here), in which players will create their own characters and their plotlines and interrelationships during the pre-game workshop, using a toolkit provided.

The play experience expected is one of melodrama, heightened emotions, implausible outcomes, improvisation and invention, and perhaps a satirical or other darkly comic edge if the players choose to take it that way.

Play will proceed in real-time as the Deneb attempts to find a way back to known space. At the end of the larp, players will have the opportunity to influence the result of this search, by their decisions and by their actions during the preceding play session.

The larp will be followed by a short debrief, in which players will have the opportunity to share out-of-character thoughts and feelings about the experience, if they should wish to.
